This winter, we are launching our All Year Round campaign, highlighting the difficulties faced by families in our community throughout the year, not just during the festive season.
By highlighting real stories, we hope to draw attention to our work every day with families in our local communities across the north of Glasgow and Lanarkshire. We really need your help for funds to help us with the variety of work needed to give parents and carers the confidence and resilience to give their young children the very best start.
- It costs, on average, £750 for a fully trained volunteer to support a family in their home for six months
- More than £10,000 is spend on the training, assessment & development of our volunteers each year.
- A nurture group, working with families to reduce isolation and build confidence in the community, costs more than £5000 each year.
- It costs more than £500 each year to provide a warm snack for families with young children at our Family Group each year.

Early in October of this year, we were delighted to receive notification that Home-Start Glasgow North had been nominated as Community Charity of the Year in the Charity Champions Awards, hosted by Big Impact Scotland. Better news followed as we were then shortlisted and invited to attend the Awards Gala Final in Glasgow on 2nd November, where we joined many other charities to celebrate the work of Scotland’s third sector, including our friends at Home-Start Aberdeen.
Our work relies on engaging with, and being a part of, the communities in which we work and having worked with communities across the north of Glasgow for over 16 years and now in North Lanarkshire since May 2017, we were honoured to have made the shortlist of finalists for this category. The award was hotly contested and congratulations to Scottish Waterways Trust who were the final winners. We were delighted to have been part of the event, to celebrate with other charities and are proud to display our finalist certificate as a mark of the incredible achievements of our passionate Home-Start staff and volunteers.
