Home-Start Glasgow North has received official accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.

Although the organisation had already set staff pay at, or in excess of, the living wage, this recognition is an important statement.  It gives assurance to our funders and supporters that we reward our staff fairly and in a way that allows them to support themselves and their families.  It shows our commitment as an employer to all of our dedicated employees who work hard for local families facing difficulties every day.  The recognition may also encourage other organisations in the third sector, big or small, to revisit their pay for staff and to join the movement of Living Wage employers.

On receiving the accreditation, Alan Webb, Chair of the Board of Trustees said “Paying the living wage has a wider impact, not only on our employees, but on their families, communities and the local economy.  We are pleased to receive this recognition, which we will share with pride.  Working with families in our communities who are facing difficulties brings our committed team of staff close to many issues, including isolation, poverty and with some who are experiencing financial difficulties, despite having a job.  Today, we are showing that even the smallest of community charities can best value their staff through rewarding hard work with a living wage.”
