Homestart has been my family. When you fall they will catch you. I didn’t get any support from my family. You don’t feel alone- I know I can call and someone is always there for me. Home-Start is the light at the end of the tunnel. Support has been amazing and been Invaluable.

 OUR TEAM

Nikki is the Scheme Manager and has been in the role since August 2013. Her involvement with Home-Start started in 2006 serving as a Trustee with HSGS for 7 years. For the last 20 years she worked supporting families and young people through homelessness and befriending services both in the public and third sector. Her background is in design which probably explains her passion and enthusiasm for developing an innovative, forward thinking scheme.
Lucy has been with Home-Start Glasgow North since 2009, originally as Family Support Coordinator and now as Development Officer (along with Liffy). Lucy has previously lived in Spain, Portugal, London and Sweden, for study, work and love respectively! She now loves living back in her hometown of Glasgow with her Swedish husband and 3 small children, and fills any rare bits of spare time with collaborative music projects.
Liffy first worked as a Speech & Language Therapist and then in publishing for over 20 years specialising in editorial and print production. She first volunteered on the Children’s Panel in 2007 and became a Home-Start volunteer in 2011. She has worked for the Scottish Refugee Council and Red Cross Refugee Services and was on the Home-Start Board before joining the staff team in 2014 as a family support co-ordinator and is now sharing the role of Development Officer with Lucy.
Iain worked for the Scottish Association for Mental Health as an Information Officer promoting health and well-being services across North Lanarkshire. He then joined the Mental Health Foundation leading a peer support project for mental health carers in Stirling, He joined the team in June 2016 as our Senior Family Support Co-ordinator.
Amanda worked as a Child Development Officer, in both the public and private sector, for many years. She has also worked for Capability Scotland supporting children with Autism and as an Assessor supporting 16-19 yr old achieve their SVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development. She volunteered with Home-Start Stirling before joining us in May 2014 as a family support coordinator and a Trainee VIG Practitioner.
As a graduate nurse Jane worked in intensive care before studying HR & training. Her work in this area took her to Sainsburys, back to Glasgow University and then as Personnel Manager for Scotland to John Laing Construction. Her wide-ranging volunteering experience includes Home-Start (which she joined in 2011), six years as an NHS Non-exec Board Director and a 2014 Commonwealth Games Frontrunner, then Clydesider.
Julie was a Home-Start volunteer before joining the team in April 2017. Previously, she worked for DWP and JobCentre Plus in a variety of roles; her last job was mentoring and supporting clients returning to work. Julie recently returned to study completing a course in Education at Langside College.
Fiona studied Horticulture and ran her own garden design business while bringing up her two daughters. She also volunteered in a number of roles including Parent & Toddler Groups; Autism Family Support Group; managing a school garden and organising charity orchestral concerts. She volunteered with Home-Start for 3 years before joining the team in 2017.
Asifa previously worked in the field of Equalities supporting ethnic minorities with health & education issues. She started volunteering with Home-Start in September 2016 before joining the team in April 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys writing romance short stories which she will publish at the end of 2017.
Mary’s first career was as a Merchant Navy officer until she married and had three daughters. She joined Early Years Scotland after volunteering on playgroup committees and spent 15 years supporting other parents in managing toddler groups and playgroups. She also became a facilitator with Parent Network Scotland. More recently, Mary trained in massage and other healing modalities to become a Wellbeing Therapist. Mary joined Home -start in August 2015, working part time as Family Group worker
Donna joined the Home-Start team in January 2015. She worked as an Administrator / P.A. for the NHS and the Rozelle Trust before coming to us. Prior to that, she worked at the Equality and Human Rights Commission for 10 years.
